What have we done?

Now that Thanksgiving is over we should spend a little time in retrospect of what it was that we just recently celebrated. Thanksgiving has been described as a time to celebrate our pilgrim heritage. I remember in school we would make cornucopias and draw pictures of happy pilgrims and Indians exchanging food and gifts. How are we getting away with believing these absurdities? From all the history I have learned it sounds like the white people came over to America and basically screwed the Indians. We slaughtered their game and made hunting more difficult. We brought smallpox and other diseases that destroyed many Indian tribes. We established a government and made state boundaries, divvying up their land to anyone that wanted it and put the red man in reservations. We brought wine and whiskey into Indian tribes giving them somber addictions that still plague them today. Upon arriving in America we called this place our land, a free land to settle as we please. How did no one realize that this was their land and never belonged to any of us. I am reading a book called Follow the River about a white lady that was captured by Indians after they razed and pillaged her settlement. The Indians, after having members of their family killed by colonial war parties, invaded a few white settlements to replace their family members that had died from the skirmishes, which would usually include sons, daughters, or wives of the settlers. Frequently in the book the Indians are referred to as savages and murderers but never mentioned is who started this hostility. True the Indians may have done some gruesome things to these invaders but weren’t they only protecting their own homes and families from being overrun by these intruders? What have we done?
Happy Holidays.

I really like your comments nate! I just want you to know I too feel remorse for the atrocious actions directed toward the red man. This is why I spend as much time as I can at Indian casinos. But why are most of the blackjack dealers white?

I think blackjack dealers at indian casinos should either be
1. black
2. named jack
or 3. at least be native american

Fort Hall can't even get a Jiffy Lube...according to my dad. How do you think they are going to get tables?

Many injun casinos aren't allowed tables. the one's in florida aren't either. just goes to show ya that the hand the injun holds is the hand that holds them down.
