Provo

As I said in the last post we were able, or forced, depending on how you look at it to go to Provodenciales which is a larger, more populated, and more modern island in the chain of the Turks and Caicos islands. Nobody likes to say the whole name of the island and so everyone refers to it as Provo. Calling it Provo is amusing because of how radically different it is from the Provo that I grew up with. We stayed at the cheapest hotel on the island and paid $110 for one night. We rented a car for our stay and traveled the island enjoying the scenery and marveling at all there was to see and do on the island compared to our little island of Grand Turk. We found a nice IGA supermarket and Brynn was almost in tears as we walked the isles looking at the choices of groceries and produce that were available. We bought some granola bars, Doritos, and of course some cereal to take back with us. We visited a conch farm which, for those of you that are not familiar with them, are a type of shellfish that look like giant snails that live in those pretty, big shells, that people always associate with islands and are used as a horn in Lord of the Flies. We went to the beach, which wasn’t nearly as calm or pretty as the beach on our island and were excited to see lots of people walking around and many people playing in the water, which is never the case in Grand Turk. We had a good trip and although I had to go to the dentist we were able to spend an ample amount of time seeing how a resort town really operates and what it would be like if we extended our internship and went somewhere else. Part of me would like to have a chance at being an intern in another location but I think we will both feel better going back home.

Is this picture screwed up on everyone else's computer. I have no idea why the colors are all crazy but I think I'll leave it for now. It's probably Blogger.
