With the help of Tyler I have gotten myself involved in a series of fantasy novels. The most recent read is Eragon by Chris Paolini. There is a movie coming out that follows the first book of the trilogy and so I thought I better read it so that I can criticize the movie when it is released this December. After reading the first book I got hooked and had to find out what happens so I quickly set out to purchase book two. I paced myself and ended up finishing the book just last week. I realized as I got close to the end that this second book is going to have no closure at all. There is no date for the release of the third book so now I am stuck for who knows how long wondering what is going to happen. Why do authors have to do this to me? I know, I know, they want to make money and by slowly releasing the books they are able to attract more attention, which attracts more readers, which thereby sustains their income for a longer time. Well boo to this marketing crap. Don’t get me hooked on something I can’t finish. Now I wonder if all of this time reading book one and two will have been wasted and that I will have to start over on these books when the third one is released so that I can remember what has happened. I don’t know if any of you watch 24 or Lost on television each week, I don’t, but I feel the same about all these shows. Boo to them for making you wait and forget what is happening each week. And on top of that I heard that some of these shows are continued from one season to the next. Don’t, just don’t.
