New York Doll

Yesterday we attended church in a new place with new people. We were greeted by many people and I am excited to be part of this new group. Being new brings along uncomfortable feelings and some awkwardness and it always helps when people are willing to confront you and introduce themselves. For a nice Sunday activity we watched New York Doll, well actually Brynn fell asleep so I watched New York Doll alone. What a great inspirational movie. For those of you that aren’t familiar with the movie it is a documentary about a wild rock star named Arthur "Killer" Kane from the 70s that ordered a Book of Mormon on the phone and ended up joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After joining he was given a calling to work in the Church’s Family History Library. The documentary follows a little bit of his life and a reunion with some of his old band members. I found the movie to be interesting and uplifting, definitely a great choice for a mellow Sunday afternoon. Have you seen it? What did you think?

We (me since Laura fell asleep) saw it a few months ago. I loved the Dolls music. And I was really blown away that such an amazing story fell into the director's lap. Especially with the ending. How does that happen?

To tell the truth, it's not one of those wham-bam-thank you ma'am documentaries, but it's still by far the best one ever.

When it was in the dollar theaters, I took four different girls (four different times) to see it. If the girl cried, I decided I liked the girl. None of them cried.
