Goals

Sometime around the 20th to the 22nd, that is the new date of departure. We should have an official date as of tomorrow, I will let everyone know. I guess they won’t be sending interns here anymore because we only work three days a week and because there is no church. I guess that causes problems with BYU and “Ricks” students receiving credit for this internship. The local manager needs time to find an assistant to help him with things since we are leaving so he asked if we could stay until closer to the end of the month to give him time to find and train someone. My knee is still bothering me, I really need to get to my doctor and fix it so that I can continue physical therapy and get better. I have a few physical goals that I need to attain in the next year. I want to beat my dad in a foot race. He keeps talking it up about how he is so much faster than I am now and so he needs to be humbled by his son, soon. Eric and Jake really started to show some promise in racquetball last year and I worry that their skills have become more honed since my injury. I plan on making a racquetball comeback and showing those two sweatband wearers that I still got skill. My only worry is that Jake has been using performance-enhancing drugs, which is really unfair to Eric and me. I haven’t seen him recently of course but by the time we left he looked like he was taking over the infomercial “Body by Jake.” Hopefully within the next four to six months I will be able to be back to my old self. I am really starting to get frustrated about my incapacitation and inability to do exercise here on the island. When we get back to the US my motto is going to be “Motivation.” I want to get my knee healthy and strong. I don’t plan on going insane and running a marathon like Eric and his wife Laura, I don’t plan to “Eat big, Get big, Lift big” like my dad, I don’t even think I will end up doing a half triathlon like my buddy Tyler. I just want to be able to be active again. I want to be able to run home when it starts pouring rain, I want to play softball, I want to go hiking, I want to be me.

I really need to post something positive about our excursion. I was looking over what I have written the past few weeks and all of it is so depressing. Brynn and I have had a good time here we have just had some unlucky events occur.

I too feel that Jake has indeed been taking performance enhancing drugs. I enacted a ban on me competing against him in anything until he gets all fat again because he schools me in everything we do.

Nate, you can talk like him when you want and now in your wet guy pic you are starting to look like him. Do you know who I mean?????? I remember when you could run. Not quite like Forrest Gump but you did make me sweat while I schooled you in racquetball. Keep feeling your angst about your knee and use it as motivation to make a comeback. I am glad you guys are coming home, I only wish it was sooner. I hope you can beat me in a race someday but you know I will make you earn it. I love you and hope all your luck is good from here on out.
P.S. The Elko meet is on the 19th and I am shooting for a PR. Hope I can get that elusive 501 BP in a meet.

Dad, you did teach me how to play racquetball when I was a kid but if you remember the student surpassed the teacher quite a few years ago. Good luck on hitting your goal of Bench Pressing 501, you can do it.

I think you did win a game or two grasshopper but you still cannot snatch the ball off of the masters kill shot to the lower corner.
