Tasers are such a great invention

I despise fanatisicm. John Kerry visited University of Florida and he was pretty much heckled by this guy who eventually gets tasered.


This reminds me of when people protested having the Vice President speak at the graduation ceremony at BYU. Dick Cheney wasn't coming to speak on the Iraq war or politics, it was focused on graduation. I am a pretty right-wing conservative but I would love to hear President Clinton speak at my graduation. I think it would be an honor to hear someone of that caliber speak about goals and give some insights on life. Why are there so many idiots in the world?

new updates, new blogs

If you haven't noticed my wife has left the blogless and joined the bloggers. I added a link to her site a while back and if you want to know how our dog is doing, take a peek. I have also revamped this site to make it a little more geeky. I hope it is showing up correctly on everyone else's computers. Let me know if there are things that don't work so that I can try to fix them. I also added a movie review link on the right. I may eventually move it lower on the page but there it is for now, right on top.

I did not write any review for the movie Stardust but I would like to tell you about it now. Brynn and I were planning on seeing Simpsons Movie but arrived a little late so we decided to see Stardust, knowing almost nothing about it in advance. I thought it was another serious fantasy movie and was sorely disappointed during the first 15 minutes because of crappy special effects and no good storyline hook. I then began to realize that the movie was a comedy and from there on out I laughed many times and left the theater smiling and happy that I saw such a great movie. Robert De Niro and Nicole Kidman deliver great performances. Everyone needs to see this movie. It is void of profanity, language, and sex but still left me pleased.

This post is for the outsiders, the select few that are blogless or the others that never use their blog but nevertheless participate in the world of online communication. One of you, known as D*Rock, created the idea that 'you' should all band together and create an open forum to share what you would like, when you would like. Because most everyone, excluding Eric, doesn't have a lot to write about every day it would be nice to have an open invite blog that everyone could post on when they felt like it. I guess I am just starting to notice that I have more free time and the internet at our house so I would like to have more blogs to visit and be able to read a little about what others are doing from time to time. Any one of you, maybe Kerbstreet, should start this thing up for everyone to join. I would love to occasionally read a post from the Bulldog.

...until proven innocent

I loosely followed the Duke Lacrosse rape scandal when it was happening but I guess I really didn't get it until last night. I was reading an article about the whole story in Reader's Digest last night and I was infuriated at how these honest, good men were treated after their annual party went bad. They admit that they should not have hired strippers but what group of close-knit, single, college kids haven't done something a little rowdy or scandalous? Curious after reading this story I got online and read a couple other articles and also watched a few YouTube videos of the players and coaches speaking and of a few news people commenting on the event. The one clip that totally blew me away was Nancy Grace freaking out about how horrible these men were. Nancy's outrageously narrow minded accusations were uncalled for, especially during a time when no proof was available to show that these men were guilty. A serious apology from Ms. Grace is warranted but I was unable to find any record of one.

Also, I would like to call out the erroneous ideas and statements of Duke University's president, faculty, and some of the student body. Groups spoke out about how these are just rich white kids persecuting other races. School groups even posted pictures of most of the lacrosse team around campus accusing them of their supposed horrible behavior. Shame on the media and the rest of the accusers for perptuating so many false ideas and destroying what could have been a great year for these outstanding Duke lacrosse players.

I hope that those players, their families and their friends can leave this incident in the past and continue their lives without suffering too many ill aftershocks of this travesty.

I am starting to miss it again. I feel like Skee-lo in his song "I Wish" - I wish I was a little bit younger, I wish I was stronger, I wish I had a knee that would work, I would... nevermind.
Since I will never play again I am looking forward to continuing my coaching career next spring. I have pretty much all the practices planned out. Now if I could just talk someone into moving up here and being my assistant coach.

Eric, podcast alert

I just listened to a podcast from our favorite host, Mr. Doug Fabrizio, titled "The Gospel According to the Simpsons" which discussed a book with the same title written by Mark Pinsky. Fantastic. What a great show.
I like everything Doug does but there are a few shows I really loved, this episode was excellent. Thanks Mr. Fabrizio.
